While working at Rangam, I identified a major challenge in the internal recruitment management system. Recruiters were struggling to shortlist the best candidates because they had to manually open and review each applicant’s profile and description, which was not only time-consuming but also ineffective. Some recruiters spent over 15 minutes per candidate, yet still missed top talent due to the overwhelming number of applications and lack of structured insights.

Understanding the Problem: User Research & Insights

To uncover the root cause, I conducted interviews with recruiters, observing how they navigated the system. Key insights included:
✔ Manual Screening Bottleneck: Recruiters had no quick way to identify top matches, leading to delays in hiring.
✔ Lack of Data-Driven Decision-Making: The system did not highlight best-fit candidates based on job requirements, requiring recruiters to make subjective choices.
✔ Resume Parsing Issues: The Applicant Tracking System (ATS) wasn’t effectively parsing resumes, overlooking strong candidates who did not use an ATS-friendly format.

Based on research insights, I redesigned and enhanced the existing flow with two key innovations:

This issue caused an incomplete reflection of candidate data in the recruiter dashboard, leading to inefficiencies in shortlisting and filling roles.

At Rangam Recruiting, the team faced a significant challenge in shortlisting the best candidates due to the inefficiency of their ATS system, which failed to properly parse resumes based on the specific parameters recruiters required. This led to missed opportunities and inefficiencies in the recruitment process.

To address this, I designed a platform that allowed candidates to create AI-powered resumes optimized for ATS compatibility. The platform uses the same template to ensure resumes are formatted in a way that enables smoother parsing through the system, ultimately increasing the chances of a candidate’s resume being seen by recruiters.

Once users complete their tasks, they'll receive a ready-made resume based on the information they provided. It only takes around 10 minutes to generate. The resume layout is specially designed to be ATS-friendly, meaning it’s easy for Applicant Tracking Systems to scan and understand.

This way, it saves both time and effort for recruiters, as they can quickly parse and process candidate information.
